
Everywhere you walk in Tikal you will find a stele or an altar, a carved lintel or a stone mask. All these items, along with the pottery and stone carvings found in the tombs, tell the story of the Maya in general and Tikal in particular.
When the manatees are caring for their young, they often come to this island to feed on sea grasses. Most of the water around Goff s Caye is shallow great lake airlines and a good place for snorkelers to see fans and coral. Inexperienced snorkelers should not head to the outer side of the reef, which offers deep water and good visibility, but large swells and strong currents. There are both spur and grooves and solid drops near this island.
