Traditionally, the music was composed by women who sang about cheating husbands, sick kids, oppressive landowners and any other social commentary that came to mind. The music has a repetitious double-metered airline seating beat and the singers do a call-and-answer type of song.

A guiding service charges $50 for half a day and $70 for a full day. Mama Noots family were rum distillers in Belize and they produced the Royal Reserve, which is still available at her place. However, they no longer make rum, they run hotels instead.
