Jim Bevis was the first man in modern times to cross the Mountain Pine Ridge divide on foot. He carried an inflatable kayak in his pack as he traveled for two days from MET to reach the Sibun River gorge, where he entered the water and paddled down the river to its end. On this trip he took a famous photographer, Tony Rath, and a scientist who was collecting fauna from freshwater creeks.
